Goddard Littlefair: Aesthetic Perfectionism Meets Boundless Curiosity

Goddard Littlefair: Aesthetic Perfectionism Meets Boundless Curiosity

Goddard Littlefair is a London-based, luxury interior design studio, established in 2012 by Martin Goddard and Jo Littlefair. The company’s talented, international team works on multi-award-winning hotel, hospitality and spa projects across the globe, as well as high-end residential schemes. Their ethos is about combining aesthetic perfectionism and boundless curiosity with a team-playing, service-driven attitude. As the Irish Times said, ‘The firm’s unique selling point is the ability to knit smart, sensual design with a healthy dose of pragmatism.’ Who wants to see some projects? Here we go!

Landsdowne Place

Interior design of marketing suite and 215-apartment luxury residential development for client Chartered Land in the prestigious Ballsbridge area of Dublin. The 14m-high, three-story marketing suite is now open for the phased selling of the development, with the first apartments ready in 2018, ranging from one-bed, two-bed and three-bed apartments to penthouses. The interior concept references nearby Georgian and Victorian properties in terms of proportions and finishes and is rich and contemporary in feel, with granite balconies, solid walnut units, marble or natural stone bathrooms and the most exclusive kitchens ever offered in the Irish residential apartment sector.

The Printing Press Bar & Kitchen

A new, 92-cover, 186 sq m bar, plus a 116-cover, 207 sq m restaurant, under the direction of chef-restaurateur Des McDonald, with a grill-brasserie feel, designed to offer maximum adaptability in order to attract day and night-time visitors with the full impact of a destination space. Goddard Littlefair’s design approach was to be highly respectful to the building’s original fabric, as well as to the late Victorian insertions, restoring grandeur and creating an environment that instantly feels long-established. This project won the Best Restaurant or Bar in  Hotel category at the 2016 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards and won the silver award for Hospitality Interior Design at the 2016 London Design Awards.

Private Apartment, Belgravia

A private, 200 sq m apartment for an international family, designed to a brief to be ‘bold and elegant, timeless and sumptuous’. The living and dining spaces were to be distinct but connected and the design feel was to strike the perfect balance between traditional luxury and the contemporary and unique, with almost every single detail, from the dining table to bedside tables to wall-coverings, bespoke-designed, in order to ensure both luxury and exclusivity

BABA

BABA is a destination restaurant and cocktail bar in The Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square hotel, with both offers under the direction of Jonathan MacDonald and Daniel Spurr from hit Glasgow restaurant Ox and Finch, in partnership with restaurant and bar visionaries Robbie Bargh from Gorgeous Group and Katherine Arnold. BABA offers a boldly unconventional menu of small plate mezze dining and the restaurant’s unique twist is the flavor of ‘Levantine escapism’. The main area features a vibrant color scheme and an industrial, distressed design feel, with strong elements of the Levantine in terms of colors and detailing.

One Park Drive – Bay

Goddard Littlefair: Aesthetic Perfectionism Meets Boundless Curiosity

One Park Drive is one of London’s most exciting and eagerly-awaited developments; an iconic new 58-story residential building by international architects Herzog & de Meuron in Canary Wharf’s New District. Goddard Littlefair has created the designs for two different areas of the three-section circular building, Cluster and Bay, with each typology comprised of studio, 1, 2 and 3-bed spaces. The interiors concept was inspired by the use of framing in the architectural scheme, as well as the ribbed texture of the external façade, with echoed patterning used in the joinery for the crisp and geometric interior treatment, inspired by the architectural cues. The concept is very engineered, using exquisite details and making them flow and connect around the apartments.

The Principal York

Goddard Littlefair: Aesthetic Perfectionism Meets Boundless Curiosity

For The Principal York, Goddard Littlefair created a scheme designed to breathe life back into every artery, giving a nod to tradition, whilst creating a light, welcoming and contemporary environment in the form of a modern and softer country house interior. They were asked to reinstate the hotel’s essential character to help position it as a great destination to spend time in, as well as being a great place for visitors to stay in, located right alongside York railway station. The Principal York had a double victory at the 2016 Visit York Tourism awards, winning gold for Hotel of the Year and Conference Venue of the Year, and also won gold at the 2016 London Design Awards for Hospitality Interior Design.

The Lowry

The Lowry Hotel’s 5-star, luxury Presidential Suite, the largest in Greater Manchester, has undergone a complete revamp including a complete reconfiguration of the space, including a newly enlarged dressing room. Beautiful, fitted joinery screens create a series of distinct, but linked spaces, including a living area, dining area, bedroom, bathroom, dressing room, pantry and powder room. Drawing inspiration from Manchester’s rich industrial history, the suite makes reference to the city’s industrial forms, geometry and heritage, including the shape of Trinity Bridge, located directly outside the hotel. Accompanied by a color palette inspired by Lowry’s five colors, the new design has a luxurious residential feel, with light and bright tonal colors used for the walls, curtains and carpets, offset by darker joinery, with painterly or geometric-patterned fabrics.
